Seamless steel pipes have a wide range of uses. Generally, seamless steel pipes for common purposes are rolled from ordinary carbon structural steel, low alloy structural steel, or alloy structural steel, with a large output. They are mainly used as pipelines for transporting fluids or as structural parts. 2. According to different uses, they are supplied in three categories: a. supplied according to chemical composition and mechanical properties; b. supplied according to mechanical properties; c. supplied according to hydrostatic test. Steel pipes supplied under categories a and b, if used to withstand liquid pressure, also need to undergo hydrostatic testing. 3. Special-purpose seamless pipes include boiler seamless pipes, geological seamless steel pipes, and petroleum seamless pipes, among others.

Welded steel pipes, also known as welded pipes, are steel pipes made by rolling steel plates or steel strips into shape and then welding them. The production process of welded steel pipes is simple, with high production efficiency, a wide variety of specifications, and low equipment investment, but their strength is generally lower than that of seamless steel pipes. Since the 1930s, with the rapid development of high-quality strip steel continuous rolling production and advances in welding and inspection technology, the quality of welds has continuously improved, the variety and specifications of welded steel pipes have increased, and they have increasingly replaced seamless steel pipes in many fields.

Welded steel pipes are divided into straight seam welded pipes and spiral welded pipes according to the form of the weld seam. The production process of straight seam welded pipes is simple, with high production efficiency, low cost, and rapid development. Spiral welded pipes generally have higher strength than straight seam welded pipes, can use narrower billets to produce larger diameter pipes, and can also produce pipes of different diameters using billets of the same width. However, compared with straight seam pipes of the same length, the weld seam length increases by 30~100%, resulting in lower production speed. Therefore, small-diameter welded pipes mostly use straight seam welding, while large-diameter welded pipes mostly use spiral welding.

What comprehensive factors should be considered when selecting steel materials?

Most steel processing is done through pressure processing, causing the steel being processed (billets, ingots, etc.) to undergo plastic deformation. Depending on the processing temperature, steel processing can be divided into cold processing and hot processing.
